How to Use Your Latest Obsession Without Rebranding

2 min read

One month you're obsessed with castlecore. Then it's Victorian mourning, vintage circus, and 1970s horror posters. Maybe it's a specific movie you watched 3 nights ago that you can't get out of your head.

If you're a highly visual person like me, eventually the thought creeps in:

"...should my brand look more like this?"

Maybe.

But that doesn't mean you need to rebrand!!

One:

Don't make your brand fit the obsession. Figure out what the obsession looks like inside your brand's world.

Two:

Remember that current obsessions aren't long lasting identities, BUT they are creative prompts that you can use to expand your brand.

🥀Here are my tips:

Trending Memes

Make memes relevant to YOUR brand. Don't stick to a trending structure if it doesn't match. For example, you know the "kinda chic" trend going around? Change the word. "kinda gothic" or "kinda spooky". People still get the idea and now it finally matches THEIR vibe.

Temporary Colors

Introduce a seasonal or temporary color. Listen, you don't need to live and die by your color palette. Huge brands add new colors in allllll of the time. So if you're feeling like the color you're currently obsessed with needs a feature in your brand, do it.

Marketing Campaigns

Create a marketing campaign. Create an entire storyline around your current obsession and see how it ties into your current brand.

Themed Collections

-Add a new product or collection. Clothing brands are the best at this. They focus on the latest trends or obsessions, but their core brand remains the same.

Blog or Content

Write a blog post or create content. Not every obsession needs its own moment in your brand. A single piece of content can scratch that itch without much effort.

Graphics

Use illustrations, graphics, or photos. This is probably one of my favorite ways to incorporate your latest obsession in your brand. Keep your colors, fonts, and logos. But add in something that represents your latest obsession. If it's castlecore and you want a dragon, just make sure it's in the same illustration style as the rest of your brand.

I'm not here to hold you hostage within your brand. I'm here to show you how to actually LIVE it.

So...do you!!

Just...ya know... without throwing away everything you've worked so hard to build 🖤
