The REAL Reasons I Won't Design "Just One Logo"

People often come to me asking for a single logo. In the past, occasionally, I'd say yes.
But that didn't align with my beliefs surrounding branding - nor did it align with my education and skillset.
Here's the truth: I’m not just a logo designer. I’m a brand designer.
Sure, logos are an essential part of branding, but they're not the whole picture.
DIY or Cheap Options Are Okay (For Now)
I want to start this by saying this: if you’re not ready to invest in a full branding package by a professional brand designer that shares your love of dark & dreamy aesthetics, that’s okay. Seriously. There’s no shame in starting small, whether you use something you DIY or an affordable template that gets the job done.
Starting with what you have isn’t a failure. It’s part of the journey. Your brand will grow and evolve as your business does, and you’ll know when it’s time to take things to the next level. When that moment comes, I’ll be here to help you create something absolutely enchanting.
Legibility Is Impossible with Just One Logo
Here’s the thing: no single logo can do it all. And I'm not talking about branding. One of the main goals of a logo is to be recognizable. But, how can someone recognize that tiny ass logo you've squished to fit into a social media profile image or favicon on your website??
Different applications require different layouts and sizes. That's why my full branding package offers 5 logo varieties. You'll always have something that works for you - and looks good doing it!

One Logo Can't Do It All
I specialize in mixing aesthetics so you don't have to choose your favorite. I mix artistry and strategy to create something that aligns with both you AND your audience. It's simply not possible to fit ALL of that into one logo. A single logo can’t carry that weight.
Without the accompanying elements of a full brand identity - like typography, color palettes, submarks, and brand strategy (AKA the heart & soul of your brand) - the logo is just a starting point. It doesn’t have the power to create a consistent, cohesive experience for your audience.
And ultimately that's why I'm here. To create brands that feel like stepping into an entire damn realm!! Not just a mark on a screen that doesn't have any SOUL.
It Isn't Fair
When I was accepting single logo projects, I quickly realized something: I was doing nearly the same amount of work for a single logo as I was for an entire brand. Why? Because even a single logo needs strategy, research, and a clear understanding of the client’s vision to be effective. Plus, I have a framework for branding that I've worked hard to perfect. I'd do all of that work only to send over files for a single logo.
It felt wrong on two counts. 1. It seemed like such a huge disservice to send one logo when I knew I had multiple other variations already designed that would be perfect for them. 2. I was investing a ton of time and effort concepting, researching, and creating - but only getting paid for one design. The unused designs would fall into the proverbial trash can. It just seemed like such a lose-lose for both myself and my clients.
And when something feels icky in business, I absolutely DO NOT continue doing it.

Branding is an Investment - And Honestly, That's Good
I've owned businesses for 15 years and during that time, I've hired multiple brand designers (despite being one myself). So, I get it. Branding is an investment. It's a commitment. But it’s one that pays off in the long run.
And you know what...I think it's a good thing that branding costs a pretty penny. Not because I want to line my own pockets (trust me, I'm not all that motivated by money), but because it ensures you won't change up your brand every time the wind blows. LOL
When you get a logo that feels like you in the moment rather than an entire brand that speaks to your very soul, you're likely to change it a heck of a lot more often.
That's a sure way to cause confusion and distrust with your audience. And here's a fact: a confused buyer... doesn't, well, buy.
I'm Too Busy To Take On Small Projects
This is actually REALLY freaking exciting for me and I'm putting this here for the sake of transparency. I'm consistently booked. As a business owner, you know how absolutely accomplished and proud I feel.
I'm currently booking a few months out. And, to avoid the possibility of burnout (been there, done that...do NOT recommend), I don't want to take on too many projects at one time.
I'm absolutely HONORED that I have people willing to pay me for the work I do. And that means that I get to do exactly what I love - crafting all-encompassing brands for misfits just like YOU!
Want me to design your brand in 2025?
I'm currently booking!
